It was said that Kokeshi dolls spread as a souvenir in the hot springs of the Tohoku region in the latter half of the Edo period. Gunma Prefecture is the largest production of "The modern Kokeshi" in Japan.
“Higasa” is a colorfully designed kokeshi doll wearing a blue kimono and holding a red parasol.
Kokeshi dolls are vulnerable to light and humidity. Please avoid places exposed to sunlight or high humidity.
There are individual differences because each is handmade.

An exquisite doll

I love my new little 'Higasa' doll. She has travelled all the way to Western Australia this month to make her new home with me. She is a quality kokeshi, painted in vibrant colours. Lucky she has a parasol as she will need it in the Western Australian sun! Today I took her to explore the Meelup regional park, by Geographe Bay - about ten minutes drive where she will now be living!

I recommend this product

Dear Therese S. san,

Thank you very much for your kindest words and the lovely photos of the Kokeshi Doll in the beautiful beach location in Western Australia! The Higasa (parasol) she is holding is so perfectly fitting to the shiny sunny day. We enjoyed looking at your creative and delightful photos. What a lucky Kokeshi Doll she is that she has a lovely new family and home over there!! We hope you will cherish the doll as a reminder of Japan!
