Arita Ware was the porcelain produced for the first time in Japan in the 17th century, and is a general term for porcelain made around Arita Town, Western part of Saga Prefecture. Arita Ware is characterized by its hard, durable, translucent white porcelain with indigo blue, red, yellow, gold, and other gorgeous colors delicately painted on it.
From the 17th to the 18th century, Arita Ware was exported not only domestically but also to foreign countries, and since it was shipped out from Imari port, it was also called "Imari Ware". Today, products made in Arita Town are called "Arita Ware", and the ones made in Imari City are called "Imari Ware".
This product is an Arita Ware tea set. It includes a tea pot and 5 tea cups. It is made with a traditional glazing technique called "Yutekitenmoku", in which golden or silvery crystals appear like oil droplets on a black glaze.
