Description

It was said that Kokeshi dolls spread as a souvenir in the hot springs of the Tohoku region in the latter half of the Edo period.
Gunma Prefecture is the largest production of "The modern Kokeshi" in Japan. This product was made in the workshop of "Usaburo Kokeshi" in Gunma Prefecture.
"Sachinohana" has red and white plum blossoms design on a black Kimono. Red and white combination is used for Celebration and means happiness in Japan.
Kokeshi dolls are vulnerable to light and humidity, please avoid places exposed to sunlight or high humidity.
There are individual differences because each is handmade.

Kokeshi Sachinohana

I’m so very pleased with the kokeshi doll, the painting of the flowers against the black is so perfect, the quality of materials used are of the highest quality. Can’t thank the sculptor enough for this wonderful addition to my other Japanese items. Many thanks to the Kyoto Handicraft Center for their wonderful customer service and the loving care they have put into making sure the items arrive in perfect condition.

Gift for my grandaughters birthday.

The Kokeshi doll Flower of Happiness was a birthday gift for my grandaughter, she hugged it and then put it in a prominent place in her room. It has an appropriate name as my grandaughter brings me nothing but happiness.
