Daruma taishi, the model for the Daruma doll, was born as a prince in India in the late 5th century, and after a long period of ascetic training, he is said to have traveled to China.

It was said that Kokeshi dolls spread as a souvenir in the hot springs of the Tohoku region in the mid-Edo period(1680-1800). Gunma Prefecture is the largest production of "The modern Kokeshi" in Japan. This product was made in the workshop of "Usaburo Kokeshi" in Gunma Prefecture. These modern Kokeshi have very charming faces and figures and ease our minds.
