Description
Hagoita is a wooden racket for traditional Japanese badminton. On the first New Year's Day after the birth of a child, it is customary to give a "Hamaya", an arrow used to drive off evil for boys, and a "Hagoita" for girls.
This is an important Japanese custom because it is a good luck charm and is also meant to ward off bad luck and evil spirits. You can play it like badminton or you may compete yourself for how many times you can bounce the shuttlecock.
