Ogata Korin was born as the second son of a kimono fabrics shop "Gankinya" in Kyoto. He was not only a painter but also a craft man.
The extraordinary sense of design is called as "Korin pattern", which has had a great influence on Japanese paintings, crafts, and designs up to the present day.

Daruma saint is an Indian Buddhist monk who is said to be the founder of Zen Buddhism in China.
Japanese daruma dolls are vased on the monk.
