【Dragon branches?!】

Kameido Umeyashiki was once a plum orchard located behind Kameido Tenjin Shrine. It became famous for its 'Garyu Bai' or 'Dragon-Lying Plum' that resembled a dragon resting on the ground, drawing a large crowd as a popular spring outing destination.

Amidst the lingering cold air, the experience of 'ume-gari' (plum blossom viewing) enveloped in sweet fragrance allows one to feel the arrival of spring. The composition, with large plum branches crossing in the foreground, providing a glimpse of the distant scenery, was innovative, and the contrast between red and green was stimulating. It's also known that Van Gogh created an oil painting based on this scene.

Today, the plum orchard no longer exists, and only a few plum trees bloom in the small shrine, reminiscent of days gone by.
