"Ito Nizaburo was a Japanese woodblock print artist who was active during the 1910s to the 1960s. He studied under the Western-style painter Fujita Tsuguharu and participated in Fujita's art group, the Taiyo-kai.
While influenced by Fujita, Ito established his own unique style. His works are characterized by a distinct sense of color and composition, and he created works in various genres such as portraits, landscapes, and still lifes.
Ito was knowledgeable in woodblock printing techniques, particularly in the multi-color printing technique. He was not only a printmaker but also an art critic who worked to promote the spread of woodblock prints.
Ito's works are highly regarded not only in Japan but also overseas. In 1946, he held a solo exhibition in New York, and in 1954, he participated in a touring exhibition throughout Europe.
Ito Nizaburo is considered an important figure in the Japanese woodblock print world, along with Fujita Tsuguharu and Otake Hikaru."
