"Edo kiriko " , Japanese traditional glassware.
This is a series of Edo kiriko glassware, we will introduce the secret of beauty of Japanese traditional glassware, "Edo kiriko".
The technique of Edo kiriko glass ware has been kept protecting and developing since 19th century by craft men of Edo (Tokyo).
This technique is called as "Kiriko", evolved with unique way to Japan.

Today, we will introduce the process of manufacturer and the traditional pattern on the glasses.
■The process to manufacturer the Edo kiriko
1) Glassware with color.
Interior of glass is non color and exterior of glass is colored.
It is called as "The Pokan technique" in Japan.
2) Draw outlines of patterns with marker. A long time ago, craft men drew with sumi Japanese ink.
3)Start carving with the diamond wheel. At first carve roughly, carve small parts gradually, finally make smooth the surface with stone。
4)Polish with powder on the wooden board or on the rubber disk to finish it.
Glassware become shiny.

Pattern of talisman "Niju Yarai"
You can see Yarai on the traditional street in Japan.
This is a Japanese traditional fence which is made of bamboo.
The pattern of Yarai on the Edo kiriko glassware is derived from crossing shape of bamboo of Yarai.
Yarai is originally put to prevent the invasion of suspicious person.
This is why the pattern of Yarai on the glassware signifies the "talisman".
This item is double Yarai pattern and it makes itself so beautiful and so sensitive.
