Description
Arita Ware Sake Vessel — The Art of Fuki-zumi
A spouted sake vessel (tokkuri) with lid in Arita Ware, featuring the Fuki-zumi technique — a delicate pattern created by spraying ink to produce a soft, mist-like gradation across the white porcelain surface. Accenting this misty ground, small fish are painted in deep indigo blue, adding a subtle and playful touch.
Suitable for both cold and hot sake. Its lidded design keeps the temperature and aroma of the sake beautifully preserved. It can also double as a container for dressings or sauces.
Dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe. As each piece is handmade, please note that there may be subtle individual differences.
What is Arita Ware?
Arita Ware is Japan's first porcelain, produced since the 17th century in and around Arita Town, Saga Prefecture. Celebrated for its hard, translucent white body and richly hand-painted decoration, it was exported to Europe from the 17th to 18th century via Imari port — where it earned the name "Imari Ware" in the West. Today, pieces made in Arita Town are called Arita Ware, while those from Imari City carry the Imari Ware name.
