"Furoshiki" are type of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth.
It is said that Furoshiki were already in use during the Nara Period (710-794) as important items. It is said that such a cloth began to called furoshiki after the Edo Period (1603-1868).
Later the common people began to use cloth to bundle things and to transport things. They can be used in various ways other than just wrapping cloth. Nowadays Furoshiki played an important role in reduce the amount of plastic as a shopping bag.
This design is based on a famous work by the renowned artist Hokusai Katsushika.

風呂敷が最初に使われ始めたのは奈良時代と言われ、その頃は布自体が貴重だったため、大事な物を扱うときに使用されていました。
江戸時代になると風呂敷という言葉が定着し、一般に物を運んだりするのに使われるようになりました。
物を包むだけでなく、鞄やスカーフ、テーブルクロス等使用シーンは様々。
ビニール袋の有料化などもあり、エコで便利な風呂敷はあらためて注目されています。

浮世絵をモチーフにしたでデザインは国内外を問わず、不動の人気です。
