"Ueno Toshogu shrine" located inside of Ueno Park in TOKYO. The shrine is dedicated to the spirit of Tokugawa Ieyasu who was the first military leader of the Tokugawa shogunate. This print is one of the most popular designs among his works. The combination of cherry blossoms and Ueno Toshogu Shrine is very beautiful. It reminds us of the spring of Japan.
Shiro Kasamatsu worked in Shin Hanga and Sosaku Hanga style. His many works were published by UNSODO publisher from 1945 and now on. Shiro left many works of Tokyo views. This was printed by UNSODO publisher, reproduction.

Kasamatsu Shiro(1898-1991)
Born in Tokyo. Shiro Kasamatsu was a student of Kaburagi Kiyokata. He won many prizes including the first Ocean Art Exhibition Minister's Award in 1937.

大正時代から昭和時代にかけての版画家、笠松紫浪による「東京八景の内 上野東照宮」です。上野東照宮と咲き誇る桜、水たまりが大変きれいな構図です。
笠松紫浪は昭和20年(1945年)ころから芸艸堂から数多くの版画を発表。
芸艸堂版、再版となります。

■笠松紫浪  
明治31年(1898)~平成3年(1991)東京に生まれる。鏑木清方に師事し、文展や帝展にも入選。
1919年、渡邊版画から新版画の第一作目を発表し、版画家としても多くの作品を残す。
