“Shin hanga” is a new style of Japanese printings. Printed or designed in Meiji period to Showa period. (1897 to 1960). (明治30年～昭和35年)
Like the traditional ukiyo-e prints, it is produced by the division of labor by painters, carvers, and printers directed by a publisher with the aim of modernizing and reconstructing ukiyo-e. This is originally published by UNSODO (Kyoto).
Okada Koichi was born in Tokyo 1907.
He was a western-style painter. After graduated art school, he exhibited many works to Nitten (The Nitten is the most popular of all the great art organizations in Japan), imperial academy art exhibition etc. He became a member of an art membership Issui-kai (The Issui-kai was founded in 1936 by Ikuma Arishima, Ishii Hakutei, Takanori Kinoshita, Yoshiken Kinoshita, Keizo Koyama, Inosuke Hazama, Sotaro Yasui, and Shintaro Yamashita.)
Koichi Okada created a series of 12 prints of famous views of Japan, most of them with Mount Fuji in the background.
