A Kiyomizu ware plate (Size 6, φ19 cm) hand-painted with the Choju-Giga (Frolicking Animals) design — one of Japan's most celebrated illustrated scrolls, said to have been painted in the 12th century. The name Kosan-ji refers to Kosan-ji Temple in Kyoto, which holds the original scrolls. The whimsical scenes of animals playing and cavorting bring a sense of joy and cultural depth to this beautifully crafted plate.
Suitable for everyday dining or as a decorative display piece. As each piece is handmade, size and color may vary slightly. Not microwave-safe or dishwasher-safe.
