Kiyomizu Ware is one of the representative crafts in Kyoto, and is characterized by its high decorativeness and variety. It does not have a fixed style and incorporates various techniques.
This product is a Kiyomizu ware tea set with hand-painted design of “Choju Giga (Frolicking Animals)”. It includes a teapot and 5 tea cups with different designs for each.
Choju Giga is one of the most famous set of illustrated scrolls in Japan and is said to have been painted in the 12th century. The name of the design "Kosan-ji" is named after Kosan-ji temple in Kyoto which holds the scrolls.
These tea cups in wide-mouthed shape are called "kumidashi" and are used to serve tea for guests. This tea set with a humorous design will be perfect for welcoming a group of guests such as families and friends.
The teapot and the cups are packed separately. The size and color will be slightly different as each product is handmade. This product is not suitable for the microwave or the dishwasher.
