It was said that Kokeshi dolls spread as a souvenir in the hot springs of the Tohoku region in the latter half of the Edo period.
Gunma Prefecture is the largest production of "The modern Kokeshi" in Japan.
This product was made in the workshop of "Usaburo Kokeshi" in Gunma Prefecture.
“Shungetsu” has a cherry blossoms design which is painted on a green kimono. The design expresses the moonlit blossoms and the shadows. The contrast between dark green and the natural color of the wood enhances the beauty of wood grain.
There are individual differences because each is handmade.
