Goshuin-cho is a special notebook for collecting red ink stamps and calligraphy given at temples or shrines as a proof of visits them.
Both sides of the cover are decorated with traditional Karakami paper made in Kyoto, called Kyo-Karakami. It is hand-printed in a process similar to woodblock printing.
The origin of the pattern is Saya weave imported since 16th century. It represents the universe and infinity.
The inner paper is made by pasting two papers together, which makes it difficult the ink to bleed through. It will be a wonderful companion for your trip in Japan.
Please note that it is recommended not to hold it strongly because water-based paint is used. The texture and pattern arrangement may differ slightly from the picture.

御朱印帳は、お寺や神社への参拝の証である御朱印を頂いて集める、特別な手帳。
こちらは両面に伝統の京からかみを使用した珍しい御朱印帳です。その工程は手摺りで、版画に似ています。
文様は、16世紀に渡来したさや織から来ており、宇宙や無限を表しています。
じゃばら折りの中紙は、2枚貼り合わせているので墨の裏移りがしにくいのが特徴です。日本の旅の素敵なお供にもとうぞ。
柄は水性絵具ですので、手に取る際は強く持たないことをおすすめします。また写真と風合いや文様の配置が異なる場合がありますが、ご了承下さい。
