This product is made in Aizu, Fukushima which is known for Aizu lacquerware.
Cashew lacquer (paint made from cashew nuts shell) is used instead of urushi lacquer, so you can enjoy the charm of lacquerware at a lower price.Maki-e (decoration) is done manually by artisans, so each product is slightly different. It resembles the fruit of jujube tree in shape, so it is named “natsume” which means jujube in Japanese.
It is one of the tea utensils used as a container for powdered green tea, but you can use it to keep small articles.For cleaning, please wipe with a soft cloth or wash with diluted dish soap and soft sponge.
