Description

A stylish lacquered Candy Box “Bonbonniere” which is impressive with the natural and beautiful grain of zelkova wood.
It can be used not only for candies, chocolates or other sweets but also as a jewelry box.

It is made by the wood turning technique one by one.
The coating is finished by the technique called “Fuki-Urushi”, which repeats many times by applying the lacquer and wiping off it with a cloth. It brings out the beauty of wood grain as well as gives strength to the product.

Lacquer has supported Japanese life and culture by widely used for its robustness, durability and ease of decoration.
Isuke Shoten Co., Ltd., that was originally a lacquer dealer in Kyoto, pursued a finish which can be felt the beauty and the texture of the wood containers and produced this “MOKU” series by collaborating with Miyake design. MOKU means of wood in Japanese.

It has a modern atmosphere and will also fit well in western-style living spaces. We hope you will enjoy the utility and beauty of Japanese lacquerware.

Decorative and functional little wooden box

The item I received quickly and was as described. This is a very useful item for the home and is also very decorative, but in a subtle way. I love how the lacquer finish really brings out the grain of the wood. I really appreciate the craftwork that has gone in to it's manufacture so, I would have like to have seen a maker's mark on the item somewhere.
