Description

Kabazaiku, cherry bark craft, is a traditional craftwork originated in Akita Prefecture during the 18th century.
Kabazaiku products are ecological and do not harm the trees in the long run as only one-third of the bark is cut. The trees have regenerative powers, growing back enough bark for the next harvest.

Tea caddies completely covered with cherry bark on all parts of the interior, exterior, and cover, are the finest products made by Kabazaiku craftsmen. This tea caddy features the natural texture of cherry bark. Its simplicity and standard design make it ideal for everyday use.

A hand crafted object becomes ART

Minasan, konnichi-wa,

Hello,

After having witnessed Kengo Yonezawa-san’s work at his traditional crafts studio in Kakunodate , had only one desire: to obtain a kudamono of his creations, the very KABAZAIKU of Japan.

While expecting to get a hand crafted object of traditional Japanese utility, indeed, have received an authentic object of sheer Japanese ART instead.

Domo arigato, thank you very much,

Lukas Alexander

Thank you very much for your kindest review and sharing your thought on the traditional Kabazaiku crafts of Kakunodate, Japan! We are very pleased to hear that you love the tea caddy and look at it as "ART," rather than just a handmade object / tool. Please enjoy the carefully-made, beautiful work of a craftsman and see how it ages as you use it for a long time. Domo arigatou gozaimasu!
