Description

Aizome (Indigo Dye) is a traditional technique of dying which has been popular in Japan for a long time. The technique was being used in the world with a long history. Around the 7th century, it was introduced to Japan. In Edo period (1603~1867), it became popular among the common people. Aizome has deodorant, antibacterial effects and insect proofing. Ai-iro (Indigo color) is called “Japan Blue” and has become the symbolic color in Japan.
