Noren is a cloth curtain hung at the entrance of shops, restaurants, or as a room partition. It is like a signboard and also shows their nature and history.
It is known that Noren has been hung to partition rooms and prevent rain or wind in the end of the Heian period, the early 12th centuries.
It is said that it has changed to the usage that leads to the present age after the 14th century in the Muromachi period. Today it is often used for decoration or interior purpose.
This is the hand-woven hemp Noren that decorates the space with bright colors and creates a modern Japanese interior.
It is dyed one by one using the traditional techniques such as brush dyeing, stencil dyeing and hand painting depending on the motif.
It is luxurious finish in which the peach blossoms in full bloom are dyed one by one by hand.
You can enjoy using it throughout spring, not only for the peach festival, Hinamatsuri.
