Mt. Fuji looks beautiful in any season and no one is tired of watching it. People have revered the graceful mountain as sacred one and respected it as symbol of Japan since ancient times.
This design depicts a gallant figure of Mt. Fuji in blazing red which appears only at a limited time in a season while the mountain changes its appearance. The pattern was woven into the tapestry with skilful technique as a lucky omen.
