【What is Gold brocade?】
Gold brocade is one of the traditional Japanese fabric which is made by weaving gold threads to create brilliant patterns.
The textile became to be woven often since the middle of the 15th century, especially in Nishijin area of Kyoto.
Its gorgeous technique and colors are considered as the superior of woven fabric and it has been used for representing the dignity of Shinto or Buddhist ritual, and royal aristocrats.
Japan is blessed with four seasons. Japanese people have expressed the nature such as flowers, pine trees, bamboos, animals, water flow, movement of clouds, and snow for the pattern of Kimono or Obi sash, with the gold brocade technique. It has developed our rich culture.
This checkered pattern called "Ichimatsu" is derived from a Kabuki actor "Sanogawa Ichimatsu" in the Edo period and he used to wear the checkered patterned kimono costume on the stage.
The gold and red colors combinations with small flowers are so brilliant. It will decorate so gorgeous your dining table. It is great as a gift, too.
Front side has a gold brocade in the center, back side has gold brocades in both ends. You can use whichever you like.
This product is washable, but please do not use the washing machine and dryer.
Please wash by hands with neutral detergent, and dry flat.
