This ornamental dagger is “Self-defense dagger” by FUJIWARANO TOSHINAGA, swordsmith from Minonokuni ( Gifu prefecture). His name TOSHINAGA means “life expectancy”. Therefore, in 17th to 18th century, the sword by TOSHINAGA became so popular among samurai for self-defence and also was often used as tributes for Shogun or for Emperor.
The”Hamon”(blade pattern) of this sword is straight which means peaceful life without any problems.
Menuki shaped Daikokuten(God of wealth) and Handguard with motif of cherry blossoms shall help you to flourish your life.
