Description
This is a serie of small helmets used motif of "Sengoku Busho" (Samurai lord of age of provincial wars, between 15th century to 17th century).
This small helmet was reproduced model of "Date Masamune".
【Who is Date Masamune?】
Date Masamune got smallpox when he was five years old and he lost sight of right eye.
He was talented to acquire martial arts and litterature rapidly.
When he was fifteen yeas, he contributed the victory for his family at his first battel in his life.
He became the head of Date family. Toyotomi Hideyoshi who was the ruler of Japan at that time felt a threat for the prominent talent of Masamune.
Hideyoshi took up a part of territories from Masamune and forced him to work for Toyotomi family.
After the death of Hideyoshi, Masamune tried to aim for the top of Japan, but Tokugawa Ieyasu (later Grand general of Edo shogunate) saw through
his intention. Masamune lost the chance to become a ruler of Japan, but he worked for his local place "Sendai" to contribute for Edo shogunate.
He developped a lot of new paddy fields proactively to increase the rice production.
By the way, Masamune was a "fashion leader" among Samurai.
In Japan, the cool and fashionable men are called as "Date-otoko", the origin of this ward is from this Date Masamune.
Masamune sticked the fashion even at the battlefield.
He always wore cool black armor and helmet with vivid accent color like red, and he wore kimono of modern pattern even under armor too.
Furthermore, his soldiers and horses also wore cool designed black armor.
【About this product】
The crescent shaped front decoration is so impressive.
The sign of military flag of Date family was gold circle on the dark blue cloth, which means the sun.
So, his crescent shaped decoration on the helmet means moon.
Masamune must have received the sunlight from Date family and that sparkled him at the battlefield.
You can enjoy this helmet itself for decoration, but you will have another choice to join up with "Armor only body for the Small helmet" sold separately , too.
It's good to use at home but it also makes a great gift.
