Wind chimes are symbol of summer in Japan.
The characteristic of cast iron wind chimes is the beautiful reverberation of the sound.Tsurigane/Temple bell is the most familiar form of wind chime in Japan. It is known as the most familiar form in ancient Japan because it was believed that the plague could be dispelled by hanging the bell of a temple called futaku(temple bell). In addition, the sound became a warning sound to alert people. We hope you will enjoy the clear sounds and feeling coolness.

Installed one in northwest corner of front porch

And the other one on southwest corner of porch

As for the inscription on the paper, it says "Shumi no furin," which somewhat means like "Enjoy the taste of the sound." The "Shumi no furin" paper strips are on almost all the cast iron wind bells sold in Japan, so it's kind of like a magic word / lucky charm that comes with them!
